There are several ways to test the Apertus model, the complexity of which ranges from creating an account on your website, to installing software on your computer or cloud machine. We cover some of the easiest ways to plug in here.

Using a cloud provider

A number of supporters of the project are listed on our Get Started page. If you would like to use Apertus with one of them, you need to only visit the home page linked.

For Swisscom, Infomaniak, and other cloud hosts, you need to go through an on-boarding process to provision a user account and activate access to Apertus through model-as-a-service package. Then you need to connect to it with Web or Desktop software. We will describe this process in more detail here soon.

In the case of Public AI, you can immediately chat with the smaller 8B model on the publicai.co site, or on our Hugging Face model cards (look for “Inference Providers” to the right). A user account is needed for access to the larger model, larger quotas, advanced tools, or developer APIs.

Using a local machine

We will add instructions here for several popular applications that allow you to download and access the Apertus model, along with tips on how to configure it properly to maximize the quality of your experience.

Our focus is on open source software with low barrier of entry and high degree of accessibility or versatility. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you would like to see instructions added for another platform.
